MTI’s key priorities for 2026
The Ministry of Trade and Industry’s (MTI) Committee of Supply (COS) Debate 2026 underscores Singapore’s commitment to secure growth, good jobs and opportunities, and prepare Singaporeans well to access them.

Establish leadership in key growth sectors and push the frontier into new growth areas
Extend our lead in Advanced Manufacturing by directing national-level R&D resources towards high-value domains
Support businesses in developing cutting-edge products and processes
Strengthen Singapore’s position as a global hub for trust-based services
Push the frontier into new growth areas such as quantum, decarbonisation technologies and space-related industries
We will achieve these through the following initiatives:
Launch RIE Flagship in Semiconductors Programme
Enhancements to National Semiconductor Translation and Innovation Centre (NSTIC) (Power Electronics) programme
Enhancements to Research and Innovation Scheme for Companies (RIS(C))
Capture opportunities in the global space economy through National Space Agency of Singapore
Launch the $800M Decarbonisation Grand Challenge

Sustain a dynamic and vibrant enterprise ecosystem
Nurture a new generation of globally leading enterprises
Increase support to sustain a vibrant startup ecosystem
Enhance support for businesses to grow and stay competitive
We will achieve these through the following initiatives:
Additional $1B for the StartupSG Equity scheme
Launch second $1.5B tranche of Anchor Fund
Refresh of LaunchPad@One-North
Expansion of LaunchPad to Punggol Digital District
Extension of Energy Efficiency Grant
Enhancements to Enterprise Financing Schemes
Enhancements to Heartland Enterprise Placemaking Grant and Enhanced Visual Merchandising Programme
New EDGE grant
Establish Singapore as an AI leader with an AI-empowered economy
Position Singapore as a location of choice where companies and top talent come together to develop, test, deploy, and scale innovative and impactful AI solutions
We will achieve these through the following initiatives:
Launch of ‘Champions of AI’ programme
AI Missions to build AI leadership in key sectors
Establish AI Park in One-North (‘Kampong AI’)

Strengthen our position as a trusted and well-connected hub, and more aggressively support firms to internationalise
Strengthen our attractiveness to international visitors
Enhance support for companies to pursue significant overseas ventures
Enhance support for Singapore enterprises to venture abroad
Develop our infrastructure to support regionalisation through the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone
We will achieve these through the following initiatives:
Launch of first phase of the Greater Sentosa Master Plan (GSMP)
Refresh Orchard Road to drive purpose-of-visit
Enhancements to Market Readiness Assistance (MRA) grant
Enhancements to Double Tax Deduction for Internationalisation (DTDi) scheme
Refreshed Global Innovation Alliance (GIA) strategy
Develop Woodlands Gateway
Safeguard and expand our economic space, by deepening and diversifying our economic links, while defending our economic interests
Deepen our trade and investment linkages with key economic partners
Diversify economic linkages to emerging markets and new growth sectors
Defend our economic interests by advancing flexible multilateralism, strengthening the rules-based trading order and establishing resilient supply chains

Enable our businesses to proactively navigate transitions
Work closely with Trade Associations and Chambers, enterprises, and the labour movement as industries evolve and technologies reshape markets

Progress in our energy transition to prepare for a low-carbon future, and secure our energy resilience
Enhance domestic carbon mitigation strategies
Explore new energy pathways
Decarbonise hard-to-abate sectors
Strengthen and diversify access to natural gas
