Mr Saktiandi Supaat: To ask the Minister for Trade and Industry with regard to the potential Johor-Singapore economic region announced by the Malaysian Economy Minister in May 2023 (a) what has been discussed with the Malaysian federal government and the Johor state government; and (b) what is the status of these discussions.

1. Singapore welcomes closer economic cooperation with Johor and Malaysia. We look forward to discussing the proposed Johor-Singapore economic region with Malaysia at the upcoming 16th Joint Ministerial Committee for Iskandar Malaysia (JMCIM) Meeting scheduled for 14 July 2023, which will be co-chaired by Minister for National Development Desmond Lee and Malaysian Minister of Economy Rafizi Ramli.
