Mr Gerald Giam Yean Song: To ask the Minister for Trade and Industry (Energy and Industry) over the past year (a) how many complaints Energy Market Authority (EMA) received regarding employers delaying sign-offs on work logs or testimonials for electrician licence applicants; (b) how many of these applicants EMA successfully assisted; (c) how EMA rendered such assistance; and (d) whether it will consider adopting digital logbooks or an independent technical panel to assess trade competencies directly.

Applicants for electrician licenses do not need their employers to sign off on the work logs or testimonials that are submitted to the Energy Market Authority (EMA) as proof of relevant practical experience. Over the past 12 months, EMA did not receive any complaints regarding employers delaying sign-offs on work logs or testimonials.
