Speech by SMS Low Yen Ling at UNLOCKED26 by Igloo
4 February 2026
Distinguished guests,
Ladies and gentlemen,
Introduction
1. A very good morning to everyone. I am delighted to join you at UNLOCKED26 to celebrate a decade of Igloo’s growth. We not only mark Igloo’s progress but also the company’s success in unlocking the global potential of the access-technology industry for growth.
Igloo’s transformation and success
2. In the last 10 years, Igloo has developed from a startup dealing with smart locks to a large access solutions platform today, serving some 5,000 companies around the world. Annually, its software platform enables more than 1 billion unlocks and supports 25 million digital credentials across more than half a million access points. That is really outstanding.
3. Congratulations, Igloo for your impressive transformation. The company was one of our fledgling enterprises in the JTC LaunchPad, a Singapore startup incubator. With the support of Enterprise Singapore, Igloo has successfully scaled to global markets. Today, the company has dual headquarters in Texas and Singapore. Its core R&D base is anchored here. Its Singaporean founders lead a company that is global in reach but local at heart.
Innovation in the property technology ecosystem
4. Today, the property technology sector is increasingly interconnected. Firms have to navigate multiple stakeholders, from individual property owners and guests to large-scale property management enterprises and technology integration partners. The industry has to strike a fine balance between enabling convenient access sharing and ensuring utmost security.
5. To this end, Igloo has created ecosystem-wide solutions that can scale across different type of properties and management platforms. Igloo’s technologies are able to (i) provide reliable access control in areas with poor internet connectivity; (ii) automate digital keys distribution and identity verification; and (iii) enable seamless integration with existing property and facilities management systems. I commend Igloo for its innovations that meet changing housing patterns.
Adapting infrastructure for new ways of living
6. Igloo is an example of a business that is successfully riding upon technology and our daily digital transformation. To friends from overseas, you may know of Singapore from your previous visits but there has been a lot of transformation since COVID-19. In fact, Singapore’s digital economy expanded to more than S$128 billion in 2024, making up about 19% of our GDP. In 2019, it was only 15%. The digital economy has huge potential and will continue to underpin Singapore’s economic growth. More enterprises, especially SMEs, have embraced digital technologies – such as artificial intelligence, data analytics, and automation – to improve productivity, innovate faster, and access global markets.
7. Igloo has shown how software-based access platforms can support and create new services and workflows — from care delivery and maintenance to shared facilities and self-guided access — without the need to transform entire buildings. Likewise, technology can create new service models. For example, deliver care and medicine to seniors in new ways, manage the security of shared spaces, or provide virtual real estate tours.
8. As digitalisation grows in our daily lives, events like UNLOCKED26 play a vital role in bringing companies, innovators and investors together to share insights and capture fresh opportunities.
Conclusion
9. Congratulations, Igloo, on your achievements and tenth anniversary. May you continue to fly our Singapore flag high as you grow and conquer new markets. I also wish all participants a productive conference.
10. Thank you.
