Oral reply to PQ on Appointing food court operator at Jurong Island

Question:

Ms Valerie Lee: To ask the Minister for Trade and Industry (Energy and Industry) following the closure of the food court at Jurong Island managed by JTC (a) what measures are being taken to secure a reliable operator given the island’s unique operating constraints; (b) whether the process of appointing a new operator can be expedited; and (c) what interim measures are in place to ensure employees have stable and affordable meal options.

1.       The original operator of the food court at Oasis @ Sakra had ceased operations on Jurong Island in August 2026, citing the limited catchment of customers and increase in operating costs.  

2.       JTC is actively engaging potential replacements to operate the food court. JTC recognises the operating constraints on Jurong Island and will structure the tenancy conditions to reflect these realities and help support a commercially viable operation. JTC has also fitted out the food court to reduce upfront renovation costs and enable a new operator to commence operations quickly.  

3.        In the interim, workers can continue to access alternative food options at Oasis @ Sakra, including KJM Curry House and Oasis Café. Some larger companies also provide in house dining facilities for their employees.
