MINISTER OF STATE FOR TRADE AND INDUSTRY LEE YI SHYAN LEADS DELEGATION TO EXPLORE BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES IN JIANGSU PROVINCE, 11 – 13 SEPTEMBER 2006.
Minister of State for Trade and Industry Lee Yi Shyan will lead a business delegation, comprising key industry players from the city planning, water management, real estate and logistics sectors to explore investment opportunities in Nanjing, Jiangsu Province from 11-13 September 2006.
Ranked first in FDI and third in GDP in China, Jiangsu is an economic powerhouse with huge growth potential and attractive opportunities for Singapore businesses. In 2005, Jiangsu was the top investment destination for Singapore in China, while Singapore was Jiangsu’s 6th largest foreign investor. As at end 2005, Singapore companies invested in 2,036 projects in Jiangsu, with total cumulative contractual investments near US$ 16 billion.
During the visit, MOS Lee will meet with Jiangsu and Nanjing leaders to further promote collaboration between Singapore and JiangsuProvince. MOS Lee will be accompanied by officials from Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Enterprise Singapore.
