Minister of State for Trade and Industry Lee Yi Shyan to attend the 15th APEC Small and Medium Enterprises Ministerial Meeting in Chicalyo, Peru, 28 to 29 August 2008
Minister of State for Trade and Industry Lee Yi Shyan will be in the City of Chicalyo, Peru on 28 and 29 August 2008 to attend the 15th APEC Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) Ministerial Meeting.
The APEC SME Ministerial Meeting is a platform for the 21 APEC economies to discuss policies and initiatives to drive SME growth through economic reform including free and open trade and investment; macro-economic stability; adherence to the rule of law; prudent fiscal management by governments; and enhancing the business operating environment for SMEs to enable them to grow and prosper throughout the APEC region.
The theme for this year’s APEC SME Ministerial Meeting is “Sustainable Local Development to Foster SME Growth”. The ministers will discuss and exchange policy initiatives on the following areas – sustainable environmental management; corporate social responsibility; innovation management; public-private partnerships to encourage SME development; and regional economic integration.
Mr Lee will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, SPRING Singapore and International Enterprise Singapore.
Singapore will be hosting APEC in 2009.
