Minister Mr Lim Hng Kiang to Attend 9th ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Council Meeting in Brunei Darussalam

Minister for Trade and Industry, Mr Lim Hng Kiang, will be in Brunei Darussalam on 10 April 2013 to attend the 9th ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) Council Meeting.
The Ministers will discuss the progress of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC), in particular the work in key areas such as services, customs integration and equitable economic development. The Ministers will also discuss the prioritised deliverables in order for ASEAN to realise the AEC by 2015.
In addition, the Ministers will exchange views on the latest developments on the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), which is a key initiative launched by the Leaders of ASEAN and its six FTA Partners in November 2012 to deepen ASEAN’s engagement with its FTA Partners. The Ministers will also take stock of the progress in the implementation of the Master Plan on ASEAN Connectivity (MPAC).
Mr Lim will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
