Minister Lim Hng Kiang to visit New Delhi and Mumbai

MINISTER LIM HNG KIANG TO VISIT DELHI AND MUMBAI

Minister for Trade and Industry, Lim Hng Kiang will be visiting Delhi from 23 to 24 June 2008 at the invitation of his counterpart, HE Kamal Nath, Minister of Commerce and Industry, India, before leaving for Mumbai.

2 In Delhi, Minister Lim will review with Minister Nath, Singapore's existing bilateral engagements with India including the Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement (CECA) which was implemented in 2005 with a view to strengthening and deepening our economic relationship.

3 Minister Lim is scheduled meet leaders in Delhi and Mumbai and will also engage the business leaders in both cities.

4 In 2007, India ranked as Singapore's11th largest trading partner with total bilateral trade of S$23.9 billion, representing an increase of nearly 20% over 2006's performance.

5 Minister Lim will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, International Enterprise Singapore and Economic Development Board.
