DR VIVIAN BALAKRISHNAN, MINISTER FOR COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, YOUTH AND SPORTS, AND SECOND MINISTER FOR TRADE AND INDUSTRY, TO ATTEND THE 9TH ASEAN TOURISM MINISTERS' MEETING IN THE PHILIPPINES

Dr Vivian Balakrishnan, Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, and Second Minister for Trade and Industry, will attend the 9th ASEAN Tourism Ministers’ Meeting in the Philippines from 15 to 18 January 2006.

Apart from reviewing the progress of the initiatives to integrate ASEAN travel and tourism, the Ministers will also exchange views on the issues confronting the region and deliberate on plans to sustain the growth momentum. The Ministers will also hold consultations with their counterparts from the PRC, ROK, Japan, and India.

Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry and the Singapore Tourism Board.
