MTI works closely with the Energy Market Authority (EMA) and other government agencies to drive Singapore's transition to a low-carbon economy, while safeguarding energy security and cost-competitiveness.
Our current priorities are to develop viable and cost-competitive decarbonisation pathways for our Power and Industrial sectors, in support of our carbon and energy transitions. These pathways include:
Low-carbon energy: Developing low-carbon electricity imports and solar energy pathways, and building new capabilities for potential sources such as nuclear and hydrogen.
Carbon mitigation for Industry: Studying the development of carbon capture and storage value chains for Industry, and spurring energy efficiency and emissions reduction at industrial facilities.
Carbon credits: Tapping into carbon credits as a complementary decarbonisation pathway through sourcing Article-6 carbon credits.
MTI also develops new green growth opportunities for Singaporeʼs economy, and leads innovation efforts to support the piloting and scaling of low-carbon energy solutions.
