Joint Statement on the EU-Singapore Digital Partnership

Joint Statement on the EU-Singapore Digital Partnership

Minister in-charge of Trade Relations S Iswaran had a videoconference call this afternoon with EU Commissioner for Internal Market Thierry Breton to discuss the EU-Singapore Digital Partnership. Both parties agreed to commence discussions on the Digital Partnership and issued a Joint Statement following the meeting.

In December 2021, Singapore and the EU agreed to strengthen bilateral digital trade with a view to advance towards a Digital Partnership during the inaugural Trade Committee meeting under the EU-Singapore Free Trade Agreement (EUSFTA). The meeting was co-chaired by Mr S Iswaran and European Commission Executive Vice-President and Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis.

The Joint Statement outlines Singapore and the EU’s shared vision of the Digital Partnership.
