Arising from a suggestion, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) reviewed the relevant clauses of the Secondhand Goods Dealers Rules and removed the requirement that payment shall be via crossed cheque only. With the amended rules that came into force on 2 February 2021, secondhand goods dealers can now use other payment methods for their purchases of secondhand goods. This is a step in the right direction to facilitate the overall nationwide push towards digital payments. |
